Our place is too small to needlessly keep stuff around and I don't much appreciate things without function or purpose. I do save some of my kid's art and photos, baby teeth and first haircut clippings... those things aren't used every day but I want something to show the kids when they're older, and those things don't take up much space. The only family heirlooms we have are furniture that is in use, jewelry that I use, and artwork that is on display. I'm just not an overly emotional or sentimental person b/c of how I was raised, but I try to think of what my kids will want to have when they're older.

I sure do. Not only that, I have useless things in my house that I don't throw away because I have an attachment not to that item but to the person who gave it to me. How pathetic is that!

Yes, but from past experience getting rid of junk isn't a good idea. The ammount of times i've thrown something out, or sold something, only to realise that it's something i could really use a few weeks/months down the line...

I'm never throwing anything away EVER again.

Yes. I actually have most of them hung on a stainless bar on my wall. It's almost art, almost junk. I like it.

I'm looking at them now... an old crocheted (spelling?) handbag, some cool serving spoons from the 50's, an antique egg beater, some wierd type of portfolio case/saddle bag, a red shoe that is pretty, some dried roses,...

I have things out in the garage that I have not used in years but I'm just too lazy to go out and go through them and throw them away.
