Here's the basic plot...
It's all about a wealthy oil family, the Ewings. The family lives on a ranch called Southfork just outside of Dallas. Originally, there were three brothers, but then one moved away to California to a place called Knots Landing (but that's a whole other story...).
The two remaining brothers are the embodiment of good and evil -- the Cain and Abel of Dallas. The older brother (JR) is married to Sue Ellen -- but he has affairs with any pretty little thing that gives him a glance. Bobby (the younger brother) is married to Pamela Barnes-Ewing. Her brother Cliff is the enemy of the Ewings in the dealings of the oil business world. They're kind of the Romeo and Juliet of Dallas....
It's definitely a show about the greed and excess of the 1980's! Back in the day, it was a great escape from reality!
