It's automatic that the wife of a King becomes Queen.
Even if HRH the Duchess of Cornwall and Rothesay (that's Camilla) doesn't use the title she would still be the Queen. She is already the Princess of Wales and just chooses to use the style of Prince Charles other titles because of obvious reasons. Unless Parliament passes a law to the contrary she will become HM the Queen the very second Prince Charles becomes HM the King, and even if the UK Parliament passed such a law she would still become Queen of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and about fourteen other realms unless each and every one of their parliaments passed the same law.
Some people seem confused by the titles but there shouldn't be confusion as it really isn't that complicated.
The sovereign is the King or Queen regnant.
If the sovereign is a King then his wife becomes Queen consort automatically.
If the sovereign is a Queen regnant then her husband is not automatically entitled to any title, but usually will get one of suitable rank.
The current consort to HM the Queen is Prince Phillip, who was made HRH the Duke of Edinburgh by her father the King prior to their wedding, and was always Prince of Greece and Denmark; though he was only made an official Prince of the United Kingdom five years after his wife became Queen. Just as the King's wife becomes Queen consort, a Queen's husband can become the King-consort, but the title hasn't been used for centuries as it appears grander than the Queen regnant who is the sovereign.

Charles would be the rightful King! Camilla his chosen Queen though she has said that she will refuse the title in favour of Princess Consort! Phillip was not the heir to the throne so could not be the King and was given the title 'Duke of Edinburgh' He was already a Prince in his own right, Prince Phillip of Greece. The laws on divorce have changed since Edward was forced to Abdicate because he wanted to marry a divorced American, and even the Church of England recognises it! If a normal divorced member of the public can marry in Church and I know they do then why shouldn't he be King and head of that Church?
His own sons do not want him to Abdicate and William has said so publicly.
As the United Kingdom is already on the verge of breaking up it won't be whether Charles is on the throne that will decide the issue. If the Queen lives as long as her Mother she could outlive Charles anyway!
As to the impact on your new multi-cultural Britain, 1 what's new about it? we've always been multi-cultural in other ways. 2 He like his Mother will have no 'real' power.
I for one will support him as will many others.

To clear things up, when a man accedes to the throne his wife becomes Queen. The late Queen Mother (God bless 'er) was the wife of George VI. She was therefore Queen Elizabeth (not the current one mind you, they had the same first name).
When however a woman accedes to the throne, such as the current Queen, her husband is her Consort. He doesn't really get a title, Prince Philip was just made a Prince randomly in 1957.
I would guess the rationale for this to be that the person who inherits the throne should be in charge. If Elizabeth II's husband had been King then he would have seemed more important (or as important) than her. In the sexist past it makes practical sense.
Under that rule, and the British constitution, Camilla would be Queen when Charles is King. She has no desire to irritate everyone though, and has said she won't adopt the title of Queen. Instead she'll call herself HRH The Princess Consort. It's all words though, under the constitution she'll be a Queen unless Parliament pass an Act saying she won't.

A hefty majority of people in UK support the monarchy and will undoubtedly support the idea of Camilla either becoming queen or queen consort when Prince Charles takes the throne.
Prince Charles is as concerned about the people of UK as you obviously are and in order to help he has already stated that when he becomes King, he wishes to be known as 'defender of the faithful'. This will ensure that the crown will support and give comfort to any and all religions practised in UK.

Its time for a republic, this Queen should be the last. I have no difficulties with Charles and Camilla, but the institution of Monarchy should go when the Queen dies.

Pablo, you are talking ****, The Queen will hand the title to Prince William who, as our first unmarried king for a while, will be able to do what he wants and go one to commit bigamy and everything. (If any sections of the UK press complain merely refer them to the following popular sympathetic saying 'Well look at what he and his brother have been through' and realise they are the only two human beings on the planet who could go on a road movie killing spree for real and completely get away with it.
(Disclaimer, if the police in a country outside the UKs jurisdiction disagree with my analyse of this situation then I'm sorry kids, prepare to rot in a jail in Mexico.)
Everyone else, can I refer you all to the music of Jimmy Hendrix and The Smiths?

I doubt Charles will make it to the throne, He is not terribly popular nor is Camilla. I think the throne will go to William if the family can talk him into taking it. I think QE2 is probably good for another 10-15 years.

Charles will be King unless he concedes to his son.
Right now the Queen has a husband but he IS NOT the King. He is a Duke I believe.
So Camilla would not be Queen and Diana would ot have been Queen either. You have to be a blood relative to ascend to the thrown.

As i understand the way thigns work in that realm, charles would be King, and she would be his consort. Much the same manner as Elizaberth's Husband. He was never referred to as King, even though he was married to the Queen.
