He and Bush Jr (so-called conservatives) have got America more deeply into debt than all the other presidents put together. He has the blood on his hands of thousands of people in South and Central America. And if a Democrat sold arms to an enemy of America, like Iran, as Pres. Reagan did, he would be denounced as a traitor. Reagan was lucky to escape impeachment over Iran-Contra.
He may have done some good things for America, and certainly left people feeling better about the country in 1989 than they did in 1981, but there are some serious stains on his record which tend to be forgotten.

As a Republican, I do not, I don't think he ranks in the top 5, and most likely not 10, I would put him in the top 15. Reagan did a lot for our country, I just don't think he was better than President's like Wilson, Washington.

Ronald Reagan was dementia ridden.... even during his Presidency.
In 1983 he told Isreali Prime Minister Yitzak Shamir that he had personally filmed the liberation of Auschwitz, even though he spent the entirety of WW2 in Hollywood.

Reagan was a mediocre president at best. He didn't do anything really well, and he screwed up big-time with the "Star Wars" idea. His legacy is laissez-faire economic policy, which is a century-old idea proven to be ineffectual.
The best presidents of all time:
Washington
Lincoln

Ronald Reagan was the best president of our era.
His legacy has already shown this.
Unfortunately - there are some that think he was the worst.

Maybe. And I'm looking at it objectively.
Mainly because he was dead right about communism and the cold war.
We came pretty close to pushing buttons, though, and if we had then he would have been the worst. Maybe he just got lucky.

I think that he definitely was one of the greatest. When he was in office we definitely had more respect from other countries because they feared him. He definitely was a man of action.

Is ketchup a vegetable?
He didn't bring down the Soviet Union either (Gorbachev managed to do that by himself).
