When I was younger, once a band made it onto MTV or became 'popular', I used to get really annoyed and not like them as much. I really only did that when I was a kid, I don't really care about that stuff anymore now. I was into lots of different underground scenes in the 90s, including the hardcore and punk scene but I never heard of Fallout Boy until they were famous but I'm not a fan. I do remember Greenday from the very early 90s since I started going to shows at 13 or 14. I went to college with one of the guys from My Chemical Romance but I don't even think I've ever heard any of their songs.

You were three when Kerplunk came out? I feel old.......

Some of the bands I've always loved still aren't very popular, but that isn't why I listen to music.

I listen to bands because I like their music, not whether they are popular or not. I got into Metallica when their first album was available on import only. I got into alot of the bands I llisten to by simply going to a record store and randomly pick stuff out. That's how I got into Anthrax and Motorhead.

heck yes. i love listening to bands before they get popular, and seeing which ones were successes. i also like finding a good song of someone that is hardly known and then saying when it is popular that i called it! then i like to rub it in my friends faces since i heard the song/of the band before anyone else did. the downside is that once you listen to an unknown band for a while and then they go popular, their music gets old since you've heard it so many times. but overall, i think its pretty neat!

I tend to find out about bands way before they get popular. Any music artist really. I grew up on Green Day, my dad loves, them. Offspring, Green Day, Motorhead...my parents are experts on all rock. So I'd say i've been into it for a pretty long time.

I did'nt know it was such an accomplishment to now about undiscovered music...♥

the bands i listen to, i started to listen to when they first released their album. other than that i listen to random songs on the Internet and if i like them, i listen to them more, regardless of if they are main-steam, popular, or whatever. i listen to the music FOR the music, the feeling behind it, the lyrics, and the different rhythms for all the instruments.... I'm a music freak. i look for a lot of technical stuff in music,
