If the mileage is genuine, why are you worried ?
If it is a fiddle, then you should be !
Good luck

If it`s a newish car with a digital speedo there nothing you can tell him as the mileage is also stored in the ecu memory , so you can`t use the "clocks from a scrapyard " excuse ! the fact that the mileage has gone up might indicate that the 146,000 miles might be the genuine mileage , was this car an ex taxi ?
It is irrelevant what is on the clock as it will still get an m.o.t if it passes the test ( mileage isn't included in the m.o.t test ) .
If your last m.o.t was the new computerised type d.v.l.a will be aware of the mileage from the last test and may ask you to attend to have a V.I.C check ( vehicle identity check ) at your local v.o.s.a centre , they will have a check around your car and issue it with a sticker on the speedo saying that the mileage may not be genuine , if it`s the old type m.o.t then there is nothing to worry about , but any future m.o.t will be based on the higher mileage !

The MOT tester doesn't query or pass/fail the car on the basis of the recorded mileage - it's nothing to do with him/her. They just record the mileage as shown at the time.

Why give a excuse if it is genuine what you worried about. Just say you drive a lot. by the way what is it like to drive ? I having a new 307 next month. But the best was the 306 I thought.

You do not have to give any explanation for increase in mileage only sudden decrease from the previous year , and that would not be the business of the tester , they are only intrested in your money

you fitted another speedo from a scap yard, because the other wasn't working... you did a lot of millage..
They won't care really. if it had gone from 146k down to 60k they would ask a few questions..

good luck with the MOT.

If I was you I'd want to know how/why it was able to do this.... If for no other reason than on the face of it it’s now worth ~1/3 of what it was... and presumably what you paid for it....
