I had asked a similar question about a month ago but forgot to include in my details how much red iodine I had. White iodine is not available in Canada and I cannot find a pharmacist who will do compounding (rather frustrating I might add). In my other question, I was told that peroxide would turn red iodine clear so now I would like to know what amount of peroxide to use. Thanks for your time. Take care.

It's not a good idea. The addition of hydrogen peroxide to iodine increases the chances that the iodine will irritate your skin, and it reduces the effectiveness of the solution on the skin. If you are going to do it, make sure you use a typical 3% solution of H2O2. A higher concentration will make the reaction explosive. It apparently takes only a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to remove the color from a vial of red iodine.

Well,it is a good question, and I am trying to do the same..in my point of view the sodium hypo-chlorite has the ability to remove colors ..my experiment was successful when I added this compound to potassium iodide (the red dye of iodine used in medicine )...but be quite careful to have more information about the composition of the red iodine you have
..few minutes ago I bought such iodine from the Egyptian market and it was red..by the research in Wikipedia ,i found it could be iodine mono-chloride ...and normally the iodine is white in color
Best of luck
