Most women from this side of the world aren't happier. But that depends on the person.
Yes, we are free to go, say or do almost everything, but with this come a lot of responsibilities, like taking care of an education, a career, plus home and family.
Being a woman is not easy, not here, not there. But you try the best you can to achieve what you want from life. Remember that happiness is a state of mind.
Sorry is not easier for everybody, everywhere.

I think both new world (first world) and old world (3rd world and so forth) are both equal in positives and negatives. It isn't so much as the freedom that I enjoy as it is the opportunity to make a better life for my family if my husband can not or does not. I was wise in choosing a wonderful husband but I know each day is subject to his own mental clarity and strength of heart and virtue. I would love to have my husband only support the family while I focus on being a wife and mother and stewardess of our home and relationships. However, the costs of living in America for the average person does not permit that comfort. A comfort yes because if my husband made enough I would not have to work and I could go and live up to older time values and be very happy. Women today are more adaptable to life as it comes vs attached to the freedom of today. Women no more want to work hard than men do, we do not want to have negativity either. We'd prefer to have nice things but honor our virtue but life today is such that you have to be more agressive. So, I would have to say my verdict is that I would love to be an old time virtuous wife but I know that God has made me to be the wife of today for the man he has given me today in the world that my husband lives in today and my love and devotion to him today is just as powerful and virtuous as it would have been if today was yesterday.

Your answer is too vague. What sort of freedom do you mean? I am happily married, loyal to husband and family, my freedom is that I choose if i want a job outside the home and where i will work, I choose to go out shopping or visit friends during the day; my husband and I decide many things together, like house, finances, child raising, family activities, family friends. I am free and I am happy. No one controls me through fear or intimidation. I am respected by my husband as I respect him also. We have different opinions sometimes and that is ok. Any questions?

Well, considering I don't have a family, but I do have a boyfriend, we don't know if we are going to get married yet. Anyway, in the family I was born in, my father is a little backwards, he was brought up where women shouldn't go outside of the house and work, they should learn how to make the man a wonderful supper and have many, many kids. What the daughter's wanted wasn't excatly their idea of what a girl, as they thought of, was or should be.

There are certain freedoms that women became free to enjoy that I wish we hadn't. I wish common courtesy, like holding doors, helping carry heavy things, fixing cars didn't have to go along with our right to vote, know what I mean? I like being treated like a lady, when and if it ever happens but most often I am expected to shoulder the entire load; both literally and metaphorically.

I've seen both the third and the first world, and I'm happy in the first world - for economic, social and personal reasons.

I'm happy they way things are. I think that it's right that we don't have to be the one that stays home and raises the children. I enjoy being able to go out and get a job that doesn't require me to have a penis.

The first world (in economics anyway) is now China.
I am very happy with my family in the US and I am very happy with my husband. I have a close knit marriage and family setting.
Let me pose this question to you.
Are you happy in your 3rd world setting with family and relationship/marriage?
