An Australian Indigenous (Aboriginal) group in Tasmania has declared they will be protesting today (Australia Day) against all the celebrations. They say they find this celebration very insulting, as it celebrates the day their home was invaded. The group called Australia Day celebrations 'racist'.

What are your views on this?

Thats just stupid!! Australia Day celebrated the Aborigione culture as well as all the others in the country.

It is about celebrating a great country and great people rather Than focusing on one particular culture.

Happy Australia Day

I don't think that the cellerbrations themselves are racist but they do comemorate the period when Australia was stolen from its indigenous peoples by the British, so I can understand why they would want to protest and boycott the festivities.

Aboriginals will protest against anything that doesnt benefit them. People are too scared of being labbeled "racist" and "politically incorrect" to see this. White people should protest all Aboriginal celebrations on the grounds that Aboriginals dont and won't work, refuse to contribute to the white-government yet demand all the benefits from it. Aboriginals exploit they're own heritage.

yes it is racist - yes they did invade - yes, i do feel it is insulting for native aboriginals - not being one i must temper my answers with the proviso that this is my own personal view but one i feel is taken by a fair few others eg. all aboriginal people in Australia

No more racist then Independance Day in the US. Because racist misappropriate the day that doesn't mean the day it's self is a racist event.
