I'm 22 and I'm traveling with my cousin who's 15. We're going to Nassau, Bahamas. Do we need any paperwork or am I automatically considered his guardian. I just want to make sure we don't have any issues while traveling.

Thanks!

You now need a passport. Laws just changed.

They will need a legal birthcertificate from the county (not the fancy one from the hospital) it must have a seal on it.

You do need legal papers from the parents on them in case of an emergancy. Have a copy on hand and a duplicate with a another person at home. Any medical history that is needed. allergies etc.

Once you land and about your daily business that's fine. The airports will be the nightmare, so plan a two hour delay upfront and get there early. Better safe than sorry.

A cruise ship checks it all up front and gets an all clear. Your issued a "seacard" and often an armband for the kiddo. that is color coded so they can run free on board.

Best wishes- have fun- that's a great age to travel with.
Take them to see the turtles and scuba with the stingrays.

If they wear contacts, be sure to get an extra set for the trip, you never know when you will need them.

was there last month! Have fun!

Leaving the country with a minor? Make sure you he/she has a passport even if one isn't required by the Bahama's. Also a letter, notarized from his parents that they are ok with the child traveling outside the country with you, with a copy of their and the childs birth certificate.

This is not required, but it is a really good idea.

Also, get a guardianship letter of medical treatment from a parent so that you can make a medical decision if it is ever necessary.

Last thing - if you are male, and your cousin is female...well, be cautious, because their will be false assumptions made.
