Are they an accurate reflection of the political opinions of the American people as a whole or do you see them as slanted more in one direction? If the latter, in which direction do you see them slanted, conservative (Republican) or liberal (Democrat)

"Peace, Love and Harmony" No, I do not have a problem with what you say. As a matter of fact, I agree with you. ;^)

I don't think the answers here are America's norm on political views. There seems to be two sides here:
1. A very informed side.
2. The completely opposite with a loud voice of of rhetoric and free time.
The average American doesn't have the freetime to read up on news over the net nor the desire to spend hours bashing their opposed party.

A full 60 to 70 percent of all Americans say "Iraq was a mistake from the start". That same number also say sending more troops will not help in Iraq. Check this site. Is that majority opinion shared by those that come here?

These boards are an accurate reflection of the RANGE of political viewpoints but not a reflection of the TYPICAL viewpoint. Here you will find radical liberals, conservatives, libertarians and populists, but, as someone else indicated, you're more likely to get political junkies here because, sadly...
...most of the American electorate can't be bothered.

Most of the question to provoke a lot of good answers. But then again, you have the weird people that act like it is "open mike at the comedy factory". I wish they would show their comedy or lack of it elsewhere.
I think this is a good forum to have questions answered and to see how the people are leaning politically.

I normally avoid using cliches when answering questions on this site, but what you will get in the Politics category of this website is a little bit of everything, i.e. the good, the bad, and the ugly, but predominantly the ugly.

They are not accurate- they are mostly uneducated people driven by passion instead of intellegence. and the passion is driven by their parents. most of the opinions seem to be slanted in the right direction- but no suprise there- SQUARE STATE TRAILOR PPL! lol..

Yahoo Answers is a magnet for political junkies, fanatics, and wierdos who have nothing better to do with their lives than try to pick fights with people they disagree with.
Gotta problem with that?

I live in San Francisco, so I'm used to always being with like minded people. So if this is how America really thinks, then we are in deep ****.
