"Poets are all who love, who feel great truths, and tell them: and the truth of truths is love." (Philip James Bailey )

Thanks!

You may as well say: Dog eyes all look sad because they are sad,
and the saddest of all are Basset hounds. Anyone who favors basset hounds will agree. The ones who know there's nothing sadder than the look in their Beagles eyes when they don't get to go to the store with you would disagree. In other words, whoever wrote this line wants false sympathy from those who are supposed to equate his words as truth. Balderdash---smothered in poppycock is what any rational human being would know it as.

Um...I sort of agree to someof it. I do believe that some of the great poets see that truth within things and right them down that no one may really think of that way before. To me I think a poet is a writer and a writer is like a river reflecting whatever they pass by. Basically from personal experience.

I suppose i do... as really the real truth could come across as love... i'm only thinking for example that say that something terrible happened, maybe my boyfriend slept with my friend but told me... not to hurt me but because they actually love you and instead of lying, they want to tell you the truth because they know you deserve to know. Lying doesnt show true love, it doesnt even show love (in my opinion). Lying is deceit and theres no trust. Only real love would prove to be truthful and open. Thats what I feel and understand about that quote! Sorry if its hard to understand.... I couldnt think of an easier way to explain it!

I dont agree because some poems are written to get the bad feelings out so, some poems are not filled with love but with hate.It all depends on what kind of poem you write and what kind of words.I hope this helps you with ur question.

I disagree with the quote becuz not all truth is love. sometimes what a poet expresses may not be truth. it may not even be wat they actually feel at the moment. it could just be the imagination of the mind.

The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration.
(Pearl S. Buck)

No.

Poets can feel great love but also great dispair, loss, wonder, searching, insignificance, darkness and ignorance. Love is unique to all who feel it - it never truly means the same thing to anyone else.

Weird. There's still many poems that portrayed other emotion besides love. This guy must be a lovelorn ;-)

Possibly, if I could understand the quote.

Well, there's been some pretty nasty poets, so that's total nonsense.
