I make over 20% in my IRA by investing in REITs.

I have made over 50% on some stocks.

IRA don't "make any interest." IRA's are just a tax defered or tax free "wrapper" for investments (which are the ones making the interest/dividends) such as stocks, bonds, CD's, etc. The interest veries from safe CD's around 4% to risky stocks issuing dividends of about 12%. Don't look at just interest, look at interest/dividends + gains/loss in share price = TOTAL RETURN.
