I got a speeding ticket in Hawaii last Friday. It was a 25 zone on a highway where everyone goes much faster. The cops were just out there getting their quota. There were 3 other cars already stopped over. Just no luck I guess. He said it was a citation, but that I didn't have to go to court. I was going like 53 or something. Questions are: once I pay the $147 speeding ticket, how does the citation affect my car insurance? (How long? How much $ increase on average?) Is it worth it to take $450 driving school to save money off insurance in the long run? Does driving school take it off my record or just lower my insurance?

Okay, firstly, if it was a citation, you do have to take care of it, or a warrant will be issued for your arrest. Call the courthouse and check your options. If you have the option of deferred adjudication, take that. It will cost a little more up front, but if you can stay clean without a ticket for 3 months, the ticket is dismissed and not on your record. Driving school is best saved as a last resort option when you have no other options. Save it. Paying the fine is just going to raise your insurance (prices depends on your age and credit report). If you fight those kinds of tickets, where the cops were pretty much trapping the offenders, you have a slightly better chance at getting off and dismissing the ticket, but it is a gamble...

Dude it shouldnt affect your insurance until like 2-3 months after you got it, and $450 is ridiculous for driving school, thay saw you coming, now these days, you can do it online for alot less, just go to the court to see which schools online are approved by them....and yes driving school will make it vanish......so no hike on your insurance..... but save it for a ticket that involves much worse.......you can only take driving school once every 6 months.....

the class would be a ridiculous investment. the rates or premiums wont go up for that little of a violation. little tickets like that wont stay on your record too long. (maybe 2-3 years) and your cost of insurance a month wont drop that much even if you took the class.
and driving classes dont lower price or make tickets disappear. sorry. hope this helped
