Thought I might ask just in case one of you may have experience with this or may be able to help give advice.... Long story short I am off of birth control (this being the 2nd month now) and am 12 more days away from a period. My breasts are sore, especially my nipples!! Is it too early to take a test?

It is too early to take the test. You can take a blood test in about a week and that would be the most accurate, otherwise wait until five days before your period is due and use a home pregnancy test kit, however, the more you wait to take the test the better the chances to get an accurate reading.
Good luck!

It's definitley too early. After having fertility issues and taking fertility drugs for a couple of years I have taken many tests way too early. It's just from being anxious and you wanting to test early is normal. But it's not a good idea for a couple of reasons. First your result, especially 12 days prior, probably will not be accurate. Also, 40% of periods are chemical pregnancies which are pregnancies that don't "stick" but the hormone is there and then passes when you get your period. I have gotten positives a couple of times when testing 5 days early that weren't true pregnancies. As hard as it is wait until the day of your period, then it will be accurate. Also being 12 days out means your ovulation days were too long ago and implantation which is the formal term for pregnancy happens about 6 days after ovulation so it is way to soon to check. I do wish you the best of luck though in trying to conceive!! =)
