Why do I have to take a drug test before I get a job but you don't have to take a drug test before you collect welfare( or do you?)? I'm ok with taking a drug test to gain employment but I'd also like to know that my tax dolars are going to those who really need it and not someone who may be using the system.

Welfare usually goes to people who are old, disabled, and/or have children. Many of the old and disabled take many drugs. People who are poor and have children probably need drugs to have an alternate reality as their life probably isn't so great. The monies that go to the people on welfare are not that much. If you seen what a family of four (4) received in cash every month you would wonder how they could afford to live on such a pittance.
As to you taking a drug test to get a job, you could just find a job that doesn't test for drugs. Many are available.
Would you deny an innocent child or children welfare because one of their parents didn't pass a drug test?

I think they should drug test for welfare. That would put a lot of folk back in the work force or on the street. I have seen plenty of people get welfare and go get their cash out and use it to buy drugs while their kids starve. I think it would straighten the world up a lot. I could care less if it is an invasion of privacy, I personally think UCLA or what ever the dumb initials are needs to be closed down. IMO!

Drug users are not the only ones that use the system. But like someone said it would be considered an invasion of privacy. It may not seem fair that you have to take a drug test but haven't you learned yet that life isn't fair?

I think that is a great idea. I bet the welfare roles would be drastically reduced. In the end, the government would say it costs too much and the ACLU would say it is an invasion of their privacy.

I know what you mean., Seems convaluted. I too am tired of giving money away to those who don't do a thing. Those who produce in this world should be rewarded and those who don't should be penalized. Right now it is backwards.

I agree with that, but it will never happen. That will mean that politicians will have to give up some of their control over people and that will never happen.
