Yes...Although insensitive might be a better word for it....He pretends to care and be a god-fearing man...BUT...remember actions (or the lack thereof) ALWAYS speak louder than words...New Orleans is still in bad shape and many people still live in those horrible FEMA trailers because they have no other choice. He just wanted to sweep it under the rug because he has handled it (and everything else for that matter) so badly. Not even mentioning it just shows you how shallow ( and shallow-minded!) a person he really is. Did he really think people would just let him get away with not mentioning it? Can he really be that short-sighted?...Well look at Iraq with no post invasion strategy and I guess there is your answer...
As a prior answerer mentioned, Katrina was the WORST natural disaster in US history and many people are still suffering and would have appreciated even the slightest acknowledgement from him of it... and New Orleans... is FAR from being fixed..
Bush didn't do anything for 4 days.. after the hurricane hit.. 4 days !! ... the Canadian military was here helping us before our own government..
BUSH will in my opinion go down in history as the worst President in modern times and the Iraq problem will only get worse...very sorry to say...

I'm so shocked that some of you are even saying things like this. Hurricane Katrina was a tragedy. It happened in 2005. It's not that he is too selfish to say anything about it. Are you guys mad he didn't say anything about 2004's Tsunami in Indonesia too? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. He talked about so many other problems - global warming, health care, the enviroment, the war, four people in the audience that are amazing role models, etc. . .
George Bush isn't the one that is narrow minded. Someone who is pissed off that he didn't say anything about Hurricane Katrina is narrow minded.
Oh, and P.S. - learn to type, or spell, whichever the problem is.

Hurricane Katrina happened in 2005. The President spoke of it when he gave the State of the Union Address in January, 2006. The State of the Union Address is more or less what has happened in the past twelve months. In effect, Katrina is old news.

Why shoul George Bush talk about the same topic when there are other matters at hand, I mean, Of course Katrina in New Orleans was devastating, but we are doing what we can and it's progressing slowly, but the war or whatever they call it is much more important.. You know, We shouldn't complain to much for we know just a little info, not the whole story

His memory can't go that far to remember how he and FEMA did such great job dealing with the hurricane.
Having just experienced a major ice storm here mid Missouri and dealing with FEMA beginning to understand there lack of concern for the area and the disaster.

I think Bush is too narrowminded to focus on anything other than the war in Iraq. I was amazed at the fact that he brought up health care...Katrina is another one of the catastrophes that has occurred under his leadership. I doubt he wants to bring it up again since his approval ratings are already so low...

He had a hard enough time putting a positive spin on the Iraq situation. You don't think he's going to bring up his biggest domestic failure, too.
