What is the specific Michigan law that prohibits someone from obtaining a minor's signature?

WHat do you mean "sign a document"? Minors generally can't enter contracts, and you generally have to be voter to sign a petition, but that doesn't mean you can't ask a minor for his signature (or, for example, that checks written on a minor's checking account are void.)

A minor's signature is null and void in all states. No-one under 18 can be held liable for any contract signed before the age of majority.

the only time a minor is required to sign anything is if someone is seeking guardianship. In Illinois at the age of 14 that person has to sign saying they agree and want to live with that person

a minor can sign anything but its void in all 50 states unless it has a parent or guardian signature along with it to make it legal
