Why do the Yanks criticise us so much when the Brits are going to sweep the boards at the Oscars????

Why do people have to keep this *us against them* attitude going ? We're ALL people - we just happen to be people who live in different countries. No one is any better than anyone else in the big scheme of things.
So who is actually being critical or devisive here??

The whole thing about the Oscars.... is that it's a long standing American tradition, but actors from anywhere can be, and often are, nominated - and often win. The point is that whoever is nominated has a chance - and it can be anyone.... from any country.
May the best men or women win....no matter WHERE they come from!!

FYI - it's mainly the American film industry ( or Yanks, as you call them ) who nominate the actors / actresses in the first place, and the fact that they will nominate British actors, Aussie actors, or any other nationalities actors, says to me, that they're a little more open minded than you seem to think. The fact that Brits - (or anyone else for that matter) may win is just part of the acknowledgment for quality work. IF the Brits "sweep the board" this year , as you say - it's solely because they offered the best body of work - and not because they're *Brits*.

I didn't know they criticised us!. ...but how many brits critised the yanks?. Can you be sure we are going to sweep the boards at the Oscars?. If we do, then thats great, if the americans do, then thats great. I don't hold a grudge if some people criticise us,so what, there's better things in life to concern yourselves with!

theres probably 15 yanks to every brit then if u exclude the welsh and irish theres probly 20 to 1
who gives a f**k about the oscars wot other 'profession' has so many back patting awards its just actors telling other actors how great they are its truly pathetic if i go to work and nominate someone how great they are ill probably get my eye poked with a jobby stick so dont worry about it too much o and by the way if u want to show the yanks who do drama or film better just tell them to watch watch dead mans shoes or trainspotting (subtitled) or snatch .
ps just watched ROCKY BALBOA ha ha jeezus man talk about a picture speaking a thousand words do not watch this film. thats the problem with hollywood u have to watch a film b4 u can criticise it. at that the point money has been made therefore it is labelled a success I WANT MY MONEY BACK lol hang on i dl'd it for free still wasnt worth the time.

On behalf of my self and everyone on YA I want to thank you ,( all of you Americans, )I want to thank you,from the bottom of my heart for allowing we Brits to sweep the floorboards at the Oscars, once again. We appreciate that you managed to provide us with brand new brooms this year. I am sure that you will agree that we did another good job, no body cleans up like the British. For that we have to say a big thank you to our mothers who taught us to sweep up at a very early age, in preparation for a day like this. Thank you so much, We shall cherish this memory for ever.
