Sport: - Noun
. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
The definition even includes racing. To be able to drive a car at 200 takes skill. Therefore, NASCAR is a sport.

I believe it is a sport, though I strongly dislike Nascar (Sorry, I find it boring, until someone wrecks, then I feel Morbid for watching, lol). A sport in my opinion is an activity that doesn't take judges to determine the winner, and you can see who's winning and also has offense and defense...Such as Basketball, you can see the team score on the other, no real need for a judge, and it's deffinitly physical and theres teams going agenst each other. Golf, Though not very physical...and very boring...You can tell who is winning without a judge and is a competition, though not any offense or defense, so I dunno. Diving, No...I don't believe it is because it takes a skilled judge to be able to judge the form and what-not of the diver, now if the diver was diving agenst other divers to go through hoops at the same time, fighting for the same hoop, sure, then it could be a sport. And my Favorite, MARCHING BAND, Ok I love Marching Band with a passion, but...I dont classify it as a sport, though in my opinion it is just as physical as Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, etc (Maybe not football, considering we dont have guys tackling us, and whatnot, but we deffinitly work harder, and takes more skill...but that's another discussion) It takes skilled judges to determine who is the winner, and you cant see "Oh that band is totally kicking that other teams...GO DEFENSE GO!" so, though I love Marching, I can't classify it as a sport...So with all of that, let's see, Racing agenst others, yes a sport, with all of the points and what not given by judges, I dont think that's very sporty, but the none-the-less, I still see it as a sport...but that's my opinion, and we're all entitled to our own.

I can play golf from daylight to dark but I can NOT drive at 200mph in a half mile track for 500 laps. Any NASCAR driver is in as good shape as any other sport person.

Um.....Nascar is the name of the league. The sport is auto racing. And yes it is a sport. It's mentally and phyically demanding. Just you try and drive a stock car 190 200 mph on a variety of tracks, some of them with high bankings.

i actually dont give a damn about either one but just so u know nascar produces the most money compared to any other sport. and golf actually takes if not the most but second to most skill to play behind baseball.

Yes. People who don't think it is needs to try driving a car bumper to bumper at 190mph. And do this while the inside of the car is over 100 degrees on the inside. Then hold a steady line 2 inches from the wall.
