It seems that we've been struggling with not only race tentions but unfair treatment to nonblacks since affirmative action was established in the 80's or 90's. I'm starting to wonder if we should be comparing affirmative action to the disaster in Iraq. Unfair promotions to blacks, free tuition, welfare, and social security have really put a dent in my paycheck. It's not cheap supporting all of this.Our country seems to have created this and then dumped it in the laps of the taxpayers. Maybe we should be more selective to what food stamps can be used for. I'm in line buying hamburger and my affirmative friends are ahead of me buying delmonico steaks as well as lobster and shrimps by the pound. With wic vouchers covering the dairy, and food stamps covering $200 in high end red meats, my stomach wouldn't stop growling. How do I sign up for affirmative handouts?

Affirmative action chooses people for certain things based on race - that is discrimination, plain and simple. By supporting affirmative action, people are supporting continued tensions between race when that should never be a factor in any decisions. Because of this, jobs are not always given to the best qualified person, and others get unfair handouts. It needs to be abolished for us to have a "free" country.

I can understand how you must feel as I have spent over 20 years in the marine corps and have worked dammned hard since I retired as a Mechanic, and when I go to Krogers to shop and see these welfare reciepients getting steak "the best" and I am trying to decide wheather to get a cheap hamburger or the next higher grade it sure ruffles my feathers, as I know they have subsized housing , food stamps wic, and sell dope on the side while not prostituting, these people have litterally destroyed America and we are still giving them our money that we need to buy our own food with, you talk about a favored race I damn sure have never saw the whites treated so well, B,T,W,if you find out how it is done please let me know I need a break to, but, we can't expect much more since white people are kind of dumb, and uninterested in any thing other than their six pack and T,V,

It also needs to be pointed out that affirmative action applies to women (as if they were a minority) in hiring practices.
What affirmative action has done over the past few decades is force employers to hire unqualified and often unwilling applicants in an attempt to change the US into a socialist country. Given all the other socialist leanings, I'd say we're over half way there.

Well, they abolished affirmative action for our university system in California. THere were only 54 black freshmen at UCLA this past fall in a class of over 4000. Stanford had better diversity and it's a private school with endowments. SO, which is the better school to go to if you want your university experience to best reflect society as a whole?

Affrimative Action needs to be re-examined. If it punishes non-black and non-Hispanic persons, then we have a problem.
Our nation needs to do something that makes America equal to all of its citizens.

Do you believe welfare is issued based on race? Wow.
I work at the welfare office, and can tell you that you'd be mighty surprised how many WHITES are on welfare.
