There are as many strains as there are people who want to make one up. There are only two real species (or whatever?) of marijuana, indica and sativa, and all strains are a combo of each. I think there's another species of cannabis, forgot what it's called, but it's not psychoactive. The strains are different in their highs. Some give you couch-lock, some are more energetic. And yeah, a dime is 10 bucks worth, and varies in size depending on the dealer.

EDIT: Despite what someone below me said, dimes DO NOT equal 1/8th.

Dime=10 bucks worth
1/8th=1/8th of an ounce.

Dimes usually come in around a gram or so, depending on the strain, dealer, and region.

Of course, there could be just different slang where she is, but the general usage is as above.

Theres two main types of marijuna. Sativa and indica. Wiithin each type theres are hundreds if not thousands of diffrent strians, such as white widow, white rhino, OG kush, afgani ect..

these strians can either be full on indica or sativa or a micture of both, for instance i believe white widow is 60% indica and 40% sativa(but im not certain.)

Also theres plenty of street terms for marijuna. Chronic just means really good quality MJ(high % THC) Dank also means high quality, mids means its not that great but it doesnt suck, Meds is medical marijuna that can be purchest from healthfood places (where medical Mj is legal) Stress or swag is cheap quality marijuna.

Theres also the prices. a Dub is $20 worth of MJ regardless of what type in califonia this would usally be 1gram of chronic or around 4-5 grams of stress. Theres also a dime witch is $10 of mj and a nickle or nick witch is $5 of mj.

There are SOO many different strains of marijuana....probably hundreds. Generally, if it is a 'special kind' is it more potent. Other then that they are no really THAT different. Hydro just means it was grown hydropnically (indoor with a sophisticated watering system). They are called dime bags because they used to cost $10....even though they are still called dime bags they cost around $50...a 'dime bag' refers to an 8th of an ounce. (BTW I do NOT condone drug use nor have I ever personally used drugs)

If you go to a "coffee shop" in Amsterdam,they have marijuana menus. These look like a scrap book with small baggies of the actual marijuana. My recollection is that there were over 30 choices.
I do not know about "dime". My guess is that it means $10 worth or marijuana.

Lots of different strains. I don't know that anyone REALLY knows how to tell the difference. Some are more potent than other and the THC levels have increased over the years. You can tell good stuff just by looking usually. Weed that has grown too long turns the THC to something called chanebinol which makes you sleepy and lethargic.
