Why does it matter? I thought it was about the "content of your character," not the "color of your skin"!! Can we just STOP it with the race card?

My take?: Tony Dungy is probably the most deserving coach in the NFL. He has paid his dues and has become a truly good coach. Since his early years as an assistant with the Steelers, Dungy has shown desire, dedication, loyalty and a great work ethic. Forget that he is black, he was given the chance to coach because he's good. Lovie Smith on the other hand, is young, eager and has a wealth of knowledge of the game. I think this game WILL come down to who makes the right decisions. If that is the case, Dungy's experience should prevail. Either way, l think it'll be a very good match up.

I think the best thing is to say the coaches. The press is really taking away from what they have done and makes it sound like no other person has coach a team to the Super Bowl. Never heard a word about where other coach blood line was, and to me this cause more trouble with the problem.

Some people are upset that the media has made it a story that this is the first Super Bowl where both head coaches are black men. They feel that no attention should be called to this, in fact, pointing it out is racist and divisive.
Maybe we should just be happy for those men who had athletic skills and talent but never made it to the NFL simply because they were black. The NFL permanently desegregated in 1946. But many men never had a chance to play or coach because they were black men. Certainly, some of these people are still alive in 2007. Maybe we can celebrate that they have lived to see this accomplishment. I'd like to dedicate this Super Bowl to them.
Recently, I read that a 112-year old Red Sox fan died but not before seeing her beloved team win its first World Series in 86 years. If we can celebrate that, why not this?

Look the NFL is a business and they did what they had to , to get this moment in football history so depending on weather the NFL wants a Darker Black Coach for pictures, if they do then the Bears win. Look do not be fooled these games are predetermined, it almost as fake as wrestling. So who care about two people in 300,000,000,000. They are not that good anyway none of them are, I pretend that it's real and have fun trash talking but I know the difference

i give both coaches props for being the first 2. i give them more props for being great men. but personally, i'm with alot of other people who at the end of the dau just think it's about time. i think it's more relavent that a 34 yr old, relatively unknown, Mike Tomlin got a prestigeous job. that's a real step. he didn't get a weak team or a historically bad job; he got a job with good players and great history. Black coach normally got the job with not much expectation and turn them into winners only to be let go of eventually. he got the type of job no other black coach has ever gotten...one with a winning organization
i'm really glad for both coaches, but i think Tomlin is the bigger sign of progress.

The Pittsburgh Steelers just got a black coach. He has an outstanding work ethic, attitude. Don't judge a book from it's cover. As long as they have a positive attitude and strong work ethic-unlike yourself-who cares? Grow up and stop living in the 60's. And before you ask, I'm white.

They're both coaches, what difference does it make if their black or white. I don't see the big deal.

I'm just glad that they both made it so a black coach will win the SB and we can stop hearing about the "controversy". To me, it does'nt matter about their skin, only that they both are great men as individuals who are there because they earned it.
