My friend is giving birth to her 2nd child and they are inducing her.
Someone told her it hurts when they break your water. Is that true?
Mine broke on it's own and I didn't feel anything so I don't know why it would hurt?

No it doesn't hurt when the doctor breaks your water, been there twice. Being induced hurts like hell. I was induced with my first and not with my second child. When you are induced there is little build up in the contractions, you are in labor right now and the contractions were fast an very painful for me. I wish your friend good luck and a successful delivery. Remember it's her body and her baby and she has a right to tell the doctor to go jump off a bridge if they aren't giving her all the facts.

It feels a bit uncomfortable when they actually break the water but once the water is broke it relieves some pressure...at least it did for me.

I have 3 kids and I had strong contractions but my water never broke so the dr broke it it is painless and involves a long stick similar toothe icecream one that is inserted adn all you feel is a thrush of warm water running down.

It doesn't really hurt. You feel a little bit of pressure, and I mean a little bit. But once it's been broken it's nothing but relief!! The pressure from all that water is gone, but then the fun starts!!!

No it doesn't hurt! They stripped my membranes first then broke my water, the stripping of membranes hurt like hell to me! Breaking the waters, you really don't feel anything.

No it doesn't hurt. Actually for me it was somewhat of a relief, until I had to push. All you feel is warmth and a small release of pressure.

No it doesn't hurt but it is kind of uncomfortable. Mine was broke and it didn't hurt at all. It's just really gross!

It shouldn't. First they broke for me after epidural. Second broke on its own the night before he was born.
