Recently I came to be the owner of a natural bathroom sponge..you know made from a sea plant or animal (not sure which) I know its cool and all and I have heard that they last longer and are mold resistant but I am wondering if there are any other benefits or advantages...Do they (soft ones) have the same or better exfoliating/softening benefits for your skin as loofahs or plastics scrubby sponges.. ?

i want to feel more proud of my purchase so I would appreciate some reviews from longtime users..also tell me if you know how much one costs in the U.S.

They don't exfoliate nearly as well, as they are much softer (I'm assuming you are talking about not tubular loofahs but actual roundish sea sponges), but the major downside to them is that if you can't really throw them in the washing machine to get rid of all of the dead skin cells and other yuck like you can the synthetic ones (which you should do weekly), and they last longer than loofahs, but not as long as synthetics since the yuck up after about month. Make sure that you thoroughly rince it out and leave it somewhere to completly dry between uses - not in the shower. They do look cool and are really nice to use though - go ahead and give yourself the luxury, just thow it out when its time comes :)

They usually cost under $10 - price depends on size and where you buy it (theyre around $35 at Crabtree & Evelyn). Heres a link where you can buy online a bunch of different ones for under $10: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_hpc/002-2961580-7834429?url=search-alias%3Dhpc&field-keywords=sea+sponge

Spongebob's first 4 seasons beat Jersey Shore to the ground The rest of the show? That's on par with Jersey Shore, actually.

actually "louffa" sponges are more prone to bacteria, because they sit in the shower and bacteria tends to grow faster, they say it is better using a washcloth, since a washcloth you wash in the washer. i say use it for a while then switch it out every month or so.
