The men you date should be reflective of what personalities you find most compatible with you, and that's what these people need to understand. Finding the current popular trends in black culture not to your liking isn't too far fetched - judging by most songs by rap artists out there right now, all it means is that you're a self-respecting woman. So tell them that, straight up, and remind them that anyone of any race can be compatible with you, and that it's not a matter of skin colour but rather self respect and chemistry, plain and simple.

You prefer to go with people from a given social groups, because you don't feel at ease with the stupid customs and conventions of the one you're from. This is not racism, you'rte not going to take your card at the KKK, or to slavishly serve a white person and "yassa massah" him or her.

If your family and so called "friends" can't understand that, you'd better move to another city or state and get a more open minded set.

You can not make people think like you. You can only tell them your side and hope the belive it. I remeber a long time ago I heard Will Smith talk about the time he decided he would swear in his music. His Grandmother had told him that kind of language was for ignorant people and he decided that he would live up to that no matter what people said about him.

i'm white and wouldn't date a white guy if you paid me. i'm sorry, but there it is. LOL my hubby is black.

the only advice i can give, is to tell them, look, this is ME. if you got a problem, that's you. i used to fight my family too, about my hubby.

anyway, my best friend is my hubby's cousin, and while they don't say anything to HIM about having a white wife, they rag on HER all the time cause they say she sounds white, just like you, and she married a white guy. i don't know why they make a difference in her and my husband.

i'll tell you what she says whenever they say that to her: just because i don't want to sound like an idiot, that makes me "sound white?" they usually let it go at that point, and then wait about 6 months before they say it again.

any other time they say anything like that, she tells them they're plenty stupid if that's what they think. it does seem to make them feel pretty dumb. LOL

It sounds like they are the ones that are racist. Just try to educate them to what the real definition of racist is.
