Hi I was watching the news about the new Chargers stadium proposal in Oceanside CA. My question is if a new stadium does open in Oceanside CA, does that mean that the Chargers will no longer play at the Qualcomm stadium in San Diego? Or will they play at both?
Also, why do they want a new stadium?
Thank you.

I wanted to add that I didn't know Qualcomm was an older stadium. My question-- I was speculating that if they play at Oceanside permanently how that might effect the enconomics of the area where the Qualcomm stadium is. Thanks for all your answers :)

good question Jessica, after two weeks of Why I am able to think of my beloved Chargers with barley a tear. If the Chargers get a new stadium and I believe Oceanside is what they really want then the boltz would play there and not at Qualcomm any more. Who what a ghost town that would be. There are many reasons for a new stadium. The most important is of course Money and in Oceanside they would draw from both the San Diego area as well as from L.A.

I live in San Diego and the city has been talking about a lot of places for a new stadium, from Oceanside to La Jolla to Chula Vista. The biggest reason for the new stadium is that the NFL publically declared that they would not hold the Super Bowl here again until a new stadium was built, even though San Diego and Miami are the two favorite locations according to fans and media.
If a new stadium is built, they will play there exclusively. Qualcomm will be torn down and a 12th mall will be built on Friars Road.

I don't know if you read this already http://www.stadiumsofnfl.com/future/ChargersStadium.htm
If they want more fans, I believe that Anaheim might be a good area to build the new stadium. If they build a new stadium, the Chargers will be playing in the new stadium. I hope they don't build it in the city of L.A. This city's traffic is already horrible enough, a football game on Monday would be the worst.

The Chargers are a typical NFL team when it comes to greedy owners and corporate welfare for billionaires. It doesn't matter to them that the old stadium will no longer be good for anything and will be a blight on the community. They are shopping themselves around and will prostitute themselves for a financially viable deal, from their point of view. Kinda reminds me of the time that the Raiders cheated the City of Irwindale.

I heard that there will be a new room set aside for ALL Charger players after each game they lose. It's a crying room so they won take the blame for losing and drawing dammed stupid penalties. BYW, I am from NEw England, and when the Pats lost, there was no bithching and moaning by the players cuz they knew they got beaten by a better team.
