Meaning, she has breast cancer now? Not recommended. I've cared for a few moms with cancer and they were induced/c-sectioned early and bottlefed so they could start chemotherapy immediately. One had a lumpectomy and a few rounds of chemo during pregnancy as her tumor was large and aggressive, however the baby had some mild anomolies due to the chemo drugs. Breastfeeding during chemo or radiation to the breast is not recommended. Also estrogen levels are high during pregnancy and lactation and many breast cancers are estrogen dependent, so keeping the levels high isn't good.
Also, lactating breasts are lumpy dense breasts that are hard to identify lumps. Not a good idea to breastfeed with active cancer, but if the cancer is non-estrogen dependent, and has been in remission for awhile, talk to your OB and oncologist, it may be possible.

It depends on the mom and on the cancer. The most important thing is for mom to be there when the baby turns 5, not just for breastfeeding so if breastfeeding means puuting off treatment, then the answer should be no. If she has a benign lump, that is usually okay but breastfeeding makes it hard to tell if the lump is growing or changing. It is best to discuss the whole thing with both the Ob-Gyn, the intended pediatrician or family doc and the oncologist. Also should talk about breastfeeding for a week so the baby can have the colostrum if mom can't breastfeed for the baby's first year of life.

It depends on any medications she is on, and any treatments she has undergone. Also breastfeeding is about more than nutrition, you can nurse even with no milk, some adoptive mothers do this.

Not if she is undergoing treatment for her cancer. The medications are toxic to the baby!

no, because the chemotherapy is in her blood and can kill her baby.
