why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down again to give the vacuum one more chance?

LOL! That's funny! Never really thought about it but I am guilty of having done it before myself! I guess I'm just aggravated that the vacuum won't suck it up so I want to make sure that it is just an ordinary thread and then I'm determined to have the machine do its job!

guess they figure that much effort to move it will make it able to be picked up by the vacuum this time around. Seen it happen too, makes you laugh and cry at the same time.

Haha. I do exactly that. I pick it up and put it down again because it was probably too deep in the carpet to be picked up. I think anyway.

If you are really refering to vacuum cleaning, then I don't understand, but I don't do it that often anyway. If your thoughts are deeper, then despite .... if you can't understand or get rid of what you see then just get on with your life.

I'd pick the string up and bin it. No point getting it wound up round the brush.

I'm sure I had an email with the same thing on it this week, it included 'why do people press harder on the remote control when the batteries are running low'. They are all so true :)

because they refuse to be outwitted by the vacuum cleaner and are trying to force it to do its job, thereby earn its keep?

Because it's easier than picking it up and walking to the bin with it.
