The rest of your answer could deal with how building a time machine is probably not possible for anyone.

The United States "SHOULD HAVE" "GIVEN" the Philippine's their Independence... Maybe, but it should be remembered that the Philippines is a European invention. It is and was a cluster of unrelated peoples and islands with different cultures and languages named for a Spanish King, Exploited by the Spanish since the 16th century, and acquired by the US at the end of the Spanish-American War as part of reparations. It allowed the US to move into the pacific as the annexation of Hawaii at about the same time. Maybe this was not nice, but why would an emerging world power surrender something so valuable to it to produce a non existant place its independance. The Philippines was not invented as a nation in Filipino minds until about 1900.

Your question is moot, because the Japanese answered it for you in 1941. When the Japanese were defeated in Aug. 1945 and driven out of the Philippines, Filipinos were free. Your essay must include a long war of resistance by a Filipino Aguino against Gen. Douglas MacArthur about 1907. Your essay must include why the U.S. should have given up the Philippines before 1946, and why the Filipinos should have striven for it.
