I find myself less interested in the newer episodes of the simpsons and find myself watching mutch older episodes with more satisfaction. The episodes of today are so poorly made that it makes me miss those old quality episodes where the stories were funny and homer wasnt as stupid as he is now. Now the stories are so ridiculous but maybe its just me what do you think?

I agree with you that they really have made Homer too dumb. I think they're competing with how dumb Peter is on Family guy. I used to like the occasional episode where it was actually dramatic and emotional. (Well, at least as much as the Simpsons can pull off.)
They've all but forgotten about all the other characters who live in Springfield. No more story lines like they used to have.
The art is as good or better than ever, though.

Oh, I know. I was incredibly disappointed in this season. There are so few good lines anymore and the plots seem old and reused. Understandably, they've been on the air for 18 years, but I do prefer the past years. Even the Treehouse of Horrors episode this season was below par.

The reason why I like the older episodes more is because today they have to compete with Family Guy. I don't like Family Guy, so I don't really lilke the direction The Simpsons humor is going.

dude, the simpsons has been on the air for, like, 17 years. how many "good" episodes do you think they could continue doing? the very fact they made it this far is amazing in and of itself. i can bet they are running out of ideas, and fast.

I dont know maybe your turning retro some of the newer ones are good but they just lack the simpsony feel of the older ones.

I AGREE that HOMER should MADE SMARTER, not DUMBER!! It's SAD that AMERICA LOVE @ DUMBBELLS.
