As a military spouse (and having moved eight times in twelve years), my motto has always been "when in doubt, throw it out"! Get REALLY brutal about what's "important" to keep.
Also, don't use newspaper on your dishes and such - yeah, it's cheaper, but NOT worth the headaches of having to SCRUB newsprint off everything. Get bubble paper, it's WORTH it... and KEEP the bubble paper for the next move, if you anticipate moving again.
Clothes: if there's dirty laundry, PACK it that way - you can wash it (JUST ONCE) after you get there and get settled.
Another clothes tip: if you're using boxes to transport clothing, line the box with a large trash bag... this way if the box gets damaged, the contents won't get as affected.
There's more, I'm sure... but hopefully those will be a start for you.
Best of luck in your new home!

I am an expert on moving...done it over 18 times...ugh! First, get a pad of paper. Then as you pack rooms, like the kitchen for example, you number the box and write it on the list with the number and what the contents are so you won't be digging for a pan the first day in your new place. Also, by numbering the boxes, you know how many you have when you arrive, if one is missing, you'll know right away. You can also put little colored stickers on the boxes that all go to one room or just number those all in a row. For example; all master bedroom boxes are from 1-10. Use a good black marker and write the number in a couple of places. When you have something that should be kept upright, make sure to put a big arrow and the words "this side up" on the box. Pack things well with paper and peanuts and anything that will protect breakables. Seal boxes with a good packing tape not just on the top, but bottoms. Write "fragile" on breakable items. Valuables should be brought with you (like jewelry). Medications should also be brought with you if you take them on a daily basis. Plants need to be watered heavily a day before to keep them moist. If you pack with good sturdy boxes, they will protect your belongings. Have a safe and organized move!

Clean everything thats dirty before you box it and it will be clean when u get there unless your using an open trailer or tying it to the roof of your car!
Packing tips???
Label each box as to what room it came from or general contents of box, like kitchen, living room, pictures, wall stuff, linens, etc..... I use a large sharpie.
If there are multiple members of your family, put their name on the box. Makes it a whole lot easier.
Oh...and make one box the OPEN FIRST box.
Keep it at the back of the truck or otherwise accessible.
That box should include.....sheets for everyones beds (you'll be tired), everyones pillows, toilet paper, soap, towels and washcloths, some basic dishes, cups and silverware. That will help you get clean, fed, and to bed. Basic needs but so frustrating if you dont have what you need!

Hire a mover and go on vacation while the whole thing is happening. What you will save on therapy and liquor will be more than the cost of the move.

Yeah 1. pack toilet paper last 2. Label everything where it will go when you get to your new place not where it came from makes for easier unpacking.

have you tried looking for space bags? you put your stuff into these bags and then use this vaccum to suck the air out. it compresses your clothes. however i dont know about how they will smell afterwards. Hope this helps.

Take everything from the house and give it to the first person you find that is less fortunate than you are. You will feel great, they will feel great; and then you get new stuff!!!!
AWESOME!!!!
