I wonder what he'll really do with that money. Send in another surge of troops to the Middle East?
Give me a break. We're not going to see an improvement in the healthcare system. He should have left well enough alone. Bedside manner is abhorant as it is in most clinics and hospitals.

Your question is really two questions and I'll try to do justice to both.
First, the radicals in the Republican party controlled the purse strings for all of the party and thus controlled their vote and support and through tough and sometimes illegal means they were able to be the majority party. They followed that with controling debate in both topic and time as well as who would get what amendments to the floor. I wasn't until the balance of power became more equal that you heard the Dems crying in the wilderness. I don't know if they will run things any better but let's let history tell us what this is about.
Second, hear the message not the messenger. The Bush proposal only helps those with an income that is taxable. That leaves out the seniors, the under employed, unemployed, poor and most single parents. Most of all it leaves out the fastest growing uninsured portion of the population, children. Many employers are changing workers status to contract worker to get out of paying benefits and this drastically effects health insurance.

you have to understand that if you are a democrat President Bush is evil incarnate. there is nothing that he can do that is not evil or wrong. he could save babies from a burning building and they would still find some loopy answer for why this was a bad thing.
right now the democrats can not come up with an idea that does not involve raising taxes, growing the government, or losing the war on terror. they are so focused on the Bush is Evil that they can not do anything else. since all their ideas will be unpopular they settle for tearing down the only good ideas they can find.
funny thing is Bush's new health care plan is very left wing and two years ago all the democrats wanted to send more troops, now today since Bush says it is a good idea they are against it, go figure. how can you work with someone who hates so much that they are unreasonable?
Bush may not go down as one of the best presidents in history (I think he will be in the middle of the pack actually), but he is doing a better job then either Gore or Kerry could have or would have done. if the democrats want to win the white house, they need to nominate a strong, non repulsive candidate. unfortunately the only candidate who isn't to some degree or another wishy washy is Clinton, and I just can not stand her socialist views

Well, let's see. Rosie is a just a loud-mouthed wind-bag. Who really cares what she has to say? She doesn't represent the dems or anybody but herself. Get over it.
2nd-- Kerry is a Senator so he has every right to speak up since he's an elected official. I'm no fan of Kerry btw...
How have the Dems had six years? They controlled nothing. You obviously have NO clue how congress works. The repubs controlled all the agendas, what went to committe and in many cases did not even tell dems when and where hearings were being conducted. They also left dems out of the loop when writing legislation.
Let's get his straight-- Bush and Republican congress did essentially nothing on domestic policy in the 6 years they controlled both major branches of gov.
Bush's proposal is nothing but tax policy-- it is NOT a healthcare solution.

... if you think that they are the democratic parties spokesmen... then that just shows how little you actually know about politics...
two people stated their opinions... that's it...
I know you don't let people speak freely in the Republican party, so this is a "wild and crazy" idea to you... and you have to get everything approved before you can talk if you're a Republican... but we pretty much let people say what they want in the democratic party... and we're smart enough to know that often times... we all don't agree... and we don't have to...
the dems aren't limited to your "we have only one idea and we all must support it" mentality... I often don't agree with many in my own party... but it's ok to do that on this side...
and the dems were working on proposals in the 90s... remember the big Hillary Clinton thing? couldn't make it happen with a Republican congress though... and they've passed a ton of legislation in the 100 hours in the house... probably did about as much in 100 hours as Republicans did in 6 years in the house...
and were you awake over the past six years? did the Republicans listen at all to any Democrats... ever?
no... just like you won't listen to me... because you don't care about anything but your own opinions... and you don't care even if they are wrong or not...

Because first and foremost this and other issues that he spoke about on Tuesday evening were issues others had been pushing for YEARS and good ol' GW wouldn't even hear of it much less talk about "working together" on issues such as health care, global warming (which he claimed did not exist until recently), and many other things he said were all a bunch of whooey, *** kissing B.S. that he THINKS will get everyone to believe he really cares about when we can see from his political record and demeanor he certainly does not care one bit about. Just he cares nothing for the ordinary, average person in America. (including the soldiers and their families that he is sending over to Iraq in spite of sooo many recomendations to the contrary) Of the People, For the People and By the People. What happened to that?????

Bush's plan sounds great but beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. There is increased costs for the middle class in this one.
While I can't stand Rosie O'Donnell she is correct to challenge Dubya on this plan. He is grasping at straws to get something anything that will save his reputation from being the worst president the US has ever had. I doubt he will be successful as a lame duck facing a Congress of the loyal opposition.

The premise of your question is based on the assumption the Rosie and 'War Hero' Kerry are the democrats' spokespersons - if this premise is true, I have to agree with you - God Help Us All !

The problem is this - if you are too poor to have any health
insurance at all, this proposal does absolutely nothing for you,
or for the emergency room, you might have to visit.
Don't tell me the Democrats have had 6 yrs. - the Republicans
have been in charge the past 6 yrs. untill this month.
They didn't want to hear anything the Democrats had to
offer - now they have to listen.
