They would still be in the same place they are now because of just one person - the governor. She has been holding onto all of the money (slated for that area) ever since she received it. She claims 'somehow a large sum of money was given to us. I don't know what to do with it so until someone tells me what to do with it - I'm just going to hold onto it' (according to my daughter's mother-in-law who works for the State of Louisianna).

The mayor, of New Orleans, isn't much better. He contacted the agencies, who evacuated residents out state, to get all of their current addresses. He wanted to make sure the people (evacuated residents) would vote for him again for mayor.
Now how low is that....................

There are just so many problems there which I feel will NEVER get sorted out and resolved. I feel for the people but I do NOT feel sorry for the 'political' people who are doing nothing but lining their pockets with the money that was supposed to go to the residents.

It was just a big accident waiting to happen.

It really depends on whether New Orleans was overrun by illegal aliens with the latest in strap-on dynomite.

The real question is "how would New Orleans have rebounded if Louisiana had republican leadership?" Both the state and the city knew of the inadequate levies for many decades and attempted (and failed) to improve them.

It's really a complete surrender of common sense to blame the federal government for a state (and city) problem. It's also completely idiotic to try to make believe that FEMA didn't spend enough money. Buddy, they spent like drunken sailors!

Money is not the cure all. Hate to tell you, but brilliant city planners were arrogant enough to build New Orleans below sea level (not very smart) and believe that they prepared approriately for what Mother Nature could bring. Man will not win battles against Mother Nature and the U.S. is pouring $ down a black hole in trying to "revive" New Orleans. It will be submerged yet again, it is just a matter of time (hopefully not in the next few years).

All the spending on New Orleans makes it ripe for more corruption (as if it did not have enough already). Fraud and abuse are running rampant. It is not worth the money. Mother Nature will teach us a lesson again.

Why are there National disasters almost daily and other mayors have prepared and dealt with it efficiently and safely. Maybe the next 9/1/01 will occur in New Orleans they we can invest all our money in one city.

New Orleans doesn't have any oil in the ground so it's worthless to us. It's much better to just let the people drown, and use the new eminent domain laws to take the land for pennies on the dollar, and resell it to corporations later on, down the line. Who needs people when you can have money instead?

it would have rebounded into much the same lowlife crime ridden place that is was to begin with .. nobody wanted to help them because of the way they acted ... and i feel for the people that are innocent of that, but they got what they deserved imo ...i personally know people that wanted to load up their cars and suvs' with supplies to go help them and were to afraid to do it because of what was going on there ... too bad so sad for them ...
