My teacher that I'm an assistant for acts differently when her intern isn't around and when they are around. Usually she would ignore me or something, but today she called me by shortening my name, which she has never done before. Why does she act like this?

Sounds like she doesn't want to be accused of ignoring you but wants to ignore you nevertheless. Blow her mind by calling her out on it. Next time she is ignoring you say "I need to let you know that I'm completely aware of the fact that you will not be acknowledging me until your interns arrive". You will floor her, and you will enjoy watching her squirm as she tries to figure out what to answer to that.

It sounds like she may be 'showing off' in a way. Like maybe she's trying to make an impression in front of her interns.

What you can do is talk with her and explain her the situation and ask her why is this. If you don't have the courage yet, just let time pass and you'll see clearly the situation.

she probably needs to be formal when her intern is there but when you are alone, she doesn't feel the need to be.
