Be real here, I am not a woman hater or a shovenist, Hilary does not command respect from me anyway.
If I were anyone from the middle east and the fact that the president of the USA was a woman, I would not give the USA the time of day. A woman from the USA is not going to get anymore respect from middle east leaders than a local woman, regardless of her posistion in another country.

As a woman, I would have to say no. There are two problems with a woman president. Stress causes women to get emotional. Emotional women are generally viewed as weak, and we need a president who can keep their head together during stressful situations.

The other thing is that if a woman is not affected by stress or show no emotion, they come off as cold or ball-busting, which would make a female president fairly unlikable. Our presidents need some sort of Charisma.

I'm not saying this is a fair assessment of women, but I believe it's the world we live in. I just refuse to be naive enough to believe that anyone (the US or the World) is ready for a female president.

Women are political leaders all around the world...very successfully. The question is, will America take a female president seriously? Sadly, I think the answer is no. Regardless of her experience or abilities (and I don't necessarily mean Clinton now...), I don't believe that the US is ready to vote for or support a female in the oval office. So, in the end, what does that say about the greatest nation in the world? So much for 'the best person for the job'.

Some of the greatest leaders in the world have been women, even in the middle east. Pakistan had a woman president for years. Indira Gandhi was a world leader. Margaret Thatcher had no problems garnering respect from world leaders, and neither does Condi Rice. Nope. Not a good enough reason to not elect a woman.

Here's my spin on it. the WORLD , especially the countries you have mentioned do not have a respect For our country now with our current world leaders men, mne and more men ! .It's not about gender it's about making paradigms shifts...Women have helped rule the world in many different manners in the last century Your words indicate to me a certain degree of ignorance . my guess is that If Senator Hillary.Clint was the president you would indeed give her the time of day.She is a seasoned politician very well educated . And has the support of both men & women who are leaders in her party. She has devoted most of her entire life to civil service. She would most likely never ask you the time of day...but if she did...what ever time you replied...she just might respond, "oh no dear boy, i have the time--- I meant what time is it in regards to ::: isn't it time for you to know the candidates before you speak with such prejuduce and ill will ? I understand the point you're trying to make....But, I firmly believe change in power will incur change, much needed change in the process of building a more peaceful world view. Not all men are afraid, intimidated, or disrespectful to a strong, alpha woman...some men with her direction actually learn how to preform thier duties much better and others even get it that the world paradigm shift needs a woman to steer the commanders....If it the one who can give birth that genetically has the gretaer investment to nourish life of all the worlds children.. If Hillary makes it to the white house you boys won't just be seeing HIS story unfold but also HER story unfold with the greatest drive & passion...the planet has ever seen ! There will shifts in thinking similar to the Renaisasance time, It will be anew day with hope and you'll see more harmony...One does not have to born as a male to have what it takes to rule the nation...and be capable of being a great leader who is respected. Watch & see ?

I doesn't mater what gender or color our next President is. The factor that will matter most is the "chicken" factor. All the "offended" nations, (ie. anyone with any reason to hate the great white satan) will try to play a game of chicken with the US and the new leader. Ackmadoodlebug and Kim Jong Ick are trying it now with more than just the United States. We will need a President that has the guts not to "blink" when the time is right to stand up.

I think that Europe might still take us seriously. Their women have basically the same rights as their men. But I think you're absolutely right about the Middle East. Their culture is one that sees women as being of less worth than men. I don't mean to sound racist, but it's true, is it not? I mean, they believe that only men are meant to command, and that a good woman obeys her man. I think we're going to get a lot more hell from the Middle East if Hillary becomes President. It will be just one more reason for extremists to think we're immoral.

Though I would like to have a female president, Hillary shouldn't be the one we count on for a change in the presidental pattern. Let's just hope she doesn't get elected

uhhh.

what middle east country gives bush " the time of day" ? the saudies? Isreal?

do you think the world respects a leader ( bush) whos' biggest credentials are that his father was president. the same man who invaded iraq in 91' not to mention his VP used to be a ceo at haliburton a company that is know making billions in iraq. not to mention the FACT that saudie oil families ( BIN lADENS) give the bush family money. and the FACT that bush is an admited alcoholic, who can no longer drink becuase of his crazy frat boy past. not to mention the FACT that bush bank rupted every business he touched.

where as Hillary has spent a LIFE TIME in polotics gearing for this moment.

so i think just the FACT hillary is less corupt then bush she will recieve alot more international respect. especially if the world see that the american public votes bushs ( a man they hate) #1 opponent into office. it will show the world that america wishes to change it's foreign policy and not stay the course. becuase if you didn't know already the entire world does not like bush or the course he insists staying on

Easily, yes. While they might lose some face in the more male-centric societies, mainly those in Central and East Asia, females have by and large been taking more and more important roles in different nations all across the globe. Just look at Germany, with a female chancellor, or Margaret Thatcher who served as the UK's PM for eons. There are many, many more important and well-respected females in power all around the world. Europe's political parties are full of female leadership nowadays, even in places like Eastern Europe where you wouldn't expect it.

Besides which, people in the United States have tolerated poor leadership for six years now; I think that by now US citizens care more about good government than they do the gender of their President.

There have been times when the US, sent women like Thatcher, Rice...etc.., and it offended the values of those countries we visited, who believe that men are the decision makers and thereby looks down on any woman filling a position of authority. It will be virtually 4 years of walking on eggshells if a woman takes presidency in the US, I truly feel it will be an unnecessary risk for the USA, and look forward to a man resuming our leadership as President of the US of A.

Unfortunately, they aren't taking us seriously now...we can't get any worse. I think a woman who projects an optimistic, positive leadership image (like Hilary does) will be taken seriously. I just really pray that people do not decide NOT to elect her solely because she is a woman (especially if she's running against a Republican who clearly shouldn't be in office (like now)). Furthermore, who cares what the people in the middle east would think - I believe that they would respect us more with Hilary in office than they have with Bush anyday.
