I have just been diagnosed with this and am managing it with alternate medicine, has anyone else done this. I am well at the moment. Am I kidding myself?

you are not kidding yourself. I know a number of people who swear by high quality aloe juice (not walmart brand) and other things. I supposedly "had" it, but "it" was just because the flora in my intestines had been damaged by a dumb az dr. prescribing antibiotics that he knew nothing about. Yogurt and oatmeal is what cured me.

Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis Crohn's disease is a very bad thing to have and the side effects and long term affects of the disease are terrible.
If you want to try and use alternative or natural medicines thats great and I really hope it works.
My husband has crohn's and I have seen him suffer terribly from it. He has alot of different medications to take and the side affects from the medication has caused all sorts of problems he has osteoperosis and has joint pain he also is high risk of developing diabetes.
He also gets alot of headaches stomach cramps nausea diaorehea and sometimes it affects his eyes.
The only advice I can really give you is to stay storng and do waht ever the doctors suggest as this is not something you want to muck around with.
And stick to the diet they give to you because if you dont the side affects can get worse.

i don't have Chron's both yet I artwork as a RN and would per chance provide somewhat enter to assist out your chum i have heard from different sufferers. mischief makes an staggering factor about protecting a nutrition diary. Recording what meals triggers the flare united statescan extremely make a huge large difference in treatment interior the destiny. also record what kind of soreness, area, and period can extremely help the record dial in her treatment on each and every occasion her next appt is. i'm no longer particular what meds she is taking yet my sufferers look to have the perfect luck with a drug said as Sulfasalazine, per chance have her seem into that? save on with a "low residue" weight help plan; low fat, low fiber, and intense in protein. generic little foodstuff are frequently better than 3 large ones. Bland meals like boiled poultry, sophisticated white rice, pastas, crackers and bread seem a lot less worrying. warding off rather spiced, heavily pro, acidic, and milk products can help cut back the soreness and cramping. stay away from alcohol and caffeine besides, it ought to improve bowel motility and reason more desirable intense cramping. If she famous nutrition it is non-worrying she will freeze them or maybe as she is experiencing a flare up it is elementary to reheat immediately and be able to relax quite of cooking. If she is experiencing generic free stools verify she is staying hydrated! And be particular to modify the supplementations/minerals/electrolytes lost. for the time of a flare up relax is so substantial! help her relax and lie nonetheless, take a warmth bathtub, a mild rubdown, concentration on even respiratory, or a warmth %. to the tummy. If she is in a position to get drugs from her record each and every from time to time it is the perfect treatment if no longer some thing else works. Ive even seen antidepressants and anti-seizure meds prescribed with efficient outcomes. I even ought to record this disclaimer: i'm no longer a doctor giving out any medical advice, i'm only sharing concepts i have heard from sufferers over the years. good luck and that i fairly wish she is in a position to locate some relief treatment!

Crohn's Disease shocker: bacteria found in cattle and sheep now found in blood of Crohn's patients
by Mike Adams

A bacterium that causes intestinal illness in cattle and sheep could also be responsible for Crohn's disease, researchers said on Friday.
Dr. Saleh Naser and researchers at the University of Central Florida in Orlando believe it is due to a bacterium called MAP which is found in cattle, sheep and goats suffering from an illness called Paratuberculosis or Johne's disease.
"We discovered the bacteria in the blood of Crohn's patients.
This is the first time anyone has done that," Naser said in an interview.
Previous studies have concentrated on looking for MAP in the tissue of Crohn's patients and the outcome has been mixed, according to Naser.
'Disease might be systemic' MAP was found in the blood of patients with Crohn's disease but not in healthy people.
"The blood is a sterile environment so the presence of this bacteria in the blood indicates this disease might be systemic, which means it may start in the intestine and ultimately it may infiltrate into other organs," he said.
Abdominal pain, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, weight loss and fever are the most common symptoms of the illness.
Naser, who reported the finding in The Lancet medical journal, believes people can be exposed to the bacteria but they do not develop the illness unless they have a genetic susceptibility to it.
In a commentary in the journal, Professor Warwick Selby of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Newtown, Australia, said although the research may fall short of proving that MAP is one of the causes of the illness, it raises many important questions.
"The findings now need to be replicated in other laboratories.
Whatever one's view, MAP cannot continue to be ignored in Crohn's disease," he said.

please consult a GI before you start anything drastick...first off this disease as well as UC is a hereditary diease and ... THERE IS NO CURE FOR CROHN'S DISEASE..... just wanted to clear it up..... a person can be in remission but you are not cured......

as i said i watch what i eat..... which is tricky because it changes on about a weekly basis but here is the jist.... when i was first hospitalized my dad bought the book "the Visious Cycle".. it is how flour is bad and other things too ... well it turns out that i couldn't eat a single thing in that book.... then i was on a liquid diet but my GI freaked because i was droppin way too much weight (age 14, 5'1", 75 lbs).... then i was put on steroids and such and hospitalized....anyway long story short i had surgery (took out 8 in of intestines)... took meds for 3 years after.. haven't been on then in 2 years... and now i am ok .... not good but definatly not bad....

now i just make sure that i don't eat things that i know will give me a "mini flare"

but remember this is not a cokie cutter disease everyone is different

and again please talk to your GI

hope this helps
