It's only hard becouse you don't have a good enough reason to do it. If your giving up because you think you should or because of pressure then it won't work. There has to be a real and definate reason personal to you for it to work.
I smoked for 12 years and gave up cold turkey 5 years ago - no patches / therapy / hypnosis / gum or any of that crap, my wife and I wanted to start a family so I had to give up or risk problems / defects with our baby. Reason enough!
I still miss it every day, I'd love a nice ciggy right now but seeing my healthy kids keeps that craving under control.

I quit smoking six months ago and it was hard, I used to think I needed cigs to stop me getting stressed, its all just in the mind, you have to find that willpower and hang on to it as tight as you can, don't let it out of your sight for a second, chew gum, eat carrots, go for walks, keep busy, anything to keep yourself going and your mind active, think of the things you can do with the money you save, yes OK its hard for the first few days but you can do it, good luck.

It isn't hard at all. Really. I did it. I smoke now, but know I'm going to quit at some point. It's like when you were a kid. Your friends encouraged you to the point of immobility and failure. Don't be afraid to fail and you won't worry if you will succeed.

yeah, it gives you something else to do.
It took me about 3 years of using "The Patch" 3 times to make it. Now, I am smoke free (not even a puff) for 5 years...

Of course there is. Anyway, why do you want to stop? I'd rather take my chances smoking than living, for instance, on a busy car ridden street. The pollution on such a street is incredible, but of course, such pollution levels are rarely spoken of. I wonder why?
