Being held back in long lines, and then emptying your pockets and having your bag searched because of whatever various, yet non violent, type of metal product you have in there while trying to go through metal detectors.

It also violates the fourth Amendment

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Private schools (and airlines) can do what they want because people pay for their services, and if they don't like it, they don't have to go to these places...

It is becoming more and more apperant that the majority of the people choose security over freedom. With so much bad news being drilled into our heads and so little good news, people are living in fear.

My concern is that with higher technological advances, we might be deterring some criminals, but criminals will always find a way around the law, and the criminals that are left will be the most dangerous. They will be the ones smart enough not to get caught even with all the security measures we take. Just how far will we take security measures? Unless they have total control of the people, crime will always exist.

I appreciate you asking us to do your homework....but....here you go!...

1. The sudden realization that you sounded the alarm could be a health risk with a heart patient.

2. The time consumption to remove half your clothing to insure anything metallic doesn't sound the alarm.

3. Overall delays!

4. Really obese people may have trouble negotiating through the systems.

5. Handicapped people would have difficulty (possibly) negotiating through the systems.

There's a few to start....however, I sincerely HOPE you are arguing FOR the use of the detectors because you are on the losing side...IMHO...if your aren't!

Good Luck!

I wouldn't know, except if they had something to hide from. I am not opposed to using metal detectors.

It's a sign of the times- I'd rather have them. Folks know they're gonna get screened when they fly, etc., so if they have health problems, it's up to them to pre-arrange anything before flight, etc.
