Frigid usually refers to a woman who has very little or no sex drive (libido). (A man would be impotent). A prude is a person that looks down on doing common ordinary, everyday things like having sex. A prude might not want to kiss in public, but once she (or he) knows no one is looking they can be quite 'animated'. Victorian England was very prudish, yet produced some scathing revelations about sexual depravity. Sort of along the lines of a priest telling you premarital sex is a no-no, but discovering the priest was molesting the alter boys.
There is a VERY distinct difference. You can actually be both. Your prudish attitude may be a front for the frigidity that is the underlieing truth.

In laymans terms, frigid means that you arent into sex and intimacy all that much. Prude means that you dont go for the touchy feely mess that men are really into. They kinda mean the same thing, but just different words. If a man called you that, then you need to tell him to take a friggen hike and you can do better.

It could be taken to mean the same thing by some people, but not by me. Frigid means extreme cold (temperatures AND attitude). Prude means extreme modesty.

Frigid means someone simply doesn't openly associate with others/strangers. Quite unfriendly.
A prude could be very kind and warm to people in general, but implies they would be more reluctant to engage in any intimate acts. A prude could be considered wholesome.

There are two definitions for "frigid" found in infowanted.com
Frigid--stiff or formal
Frigid-- inhibited in the ability to experience sexual excitement during sexual activity; unresponsive to sexual advances or stimuli, or unemotional or unimaginative; lacking passion, sympathy, or sensitivity.
This is the definition of prude found in wikipedia.com
Prude: A person who is considered a prude may have reservations about nudity, participating in romantic or sexual activity, drinking alcohol or consuming other drugs, or participating in mischief.
Yes, I think these terms mean the same thing. Their definitions are very similar.

If she is frigid then she will not enjoy sex if she is a prude she will make people think that she is such a proper gal BUT behind closed doors she may be a freak but she would never want that to get out.

well, hmmm. Frigid couldand i belive is often a medical problem of chemical imbalances for example(also psychological i.e.ptsd trama etc included in/as medical problem...)I do think that, ok.
Prude umm might be a preferance of charactor i.e. expected behavior in cultural belief in persons counrty or even just to be "picky" and for simply waiting for the right guy.
So as both terms apply to sexual nature usually the words or any words pose dillema as to the one ansering this question posed. the one giving the answer is a male or a female, ones culture, and knowledge even charactor and so forth all are factors in how the answer is addressed.

Definitely not, because you can be a prude without being frigid. Frigid means you don't like any kind of sex. Prudish means you don't like certain kinds of sex !!
