Good question!

First of all, if you're looking for the "perfect mate", it just AIN'T gonna happen, because no one's perfect. The reasons are many, starting with the fact no two people think the same or are raised the same. We are all creatures of habit, and we only know what we have been exposed to. So, when you begin life with another person, you both gotta go thru some changes.

Look, being in any kind of relationship should be as close to a 50-50 deal as you can be. Unfortunately, that never happens, either. One will always give more then the other. One will always take more than the other. It's called reality.

Just do the best you can to get to know your mate before you make a lifetime commitment. I believe, if you're talking about marriage here, vows are forever. It's become far too easy for ppl to "get out of it" thru divorce, separation, or annulment. Commitment is never easy. If you think it is, you don't want a mate, you want Eutopia. Again, it AIN'T gonna happen.

You have to bend a little in any relationship. You have to compromise. However, we all have things we can't or won't live with. That's what you need to decide and talk about before you get in too deep. For instance, I let my guy know right up front things I would NEVER accept from him. He was warned going in, and we've been together 25 years. I guess it worked okay. We're still together.

Good luck finding the "right mate". Just don't expect miracles, kiddo!

I used to, but my standards have pretty much hit rock bottom. I still can't seem to find a mate because every time I lower my standards, the people I meet are even lower.

Your standard can't be too high when looking for a soul mate. Do not ever settle.

Just a little, not much. But I looooove my bf, so I'm not looking. So I won't to set any standards. He's all I could ever want.

No, not reelly. Dragon knows what she can put up with and what will make her crazy. And her standards aren't all that unreechable fer the right person.

Sometimes. No one is perfect, but some things are a must. If you cannot have an intelligent conversation then there is no point.

Not at all. I did set them extremely high and my husband has totally surpassed ALL my expectations.

I think I do. My two major relationships were a total bust so now I'm very picky!

I used to think I did, but all I ever really wanted was someone who would be patient with me and someone who would appreciate me for who I am...and I found that :)
