Okay....major confusion about to set in! My last period was Dec 16, 2006. I used an ovulation predictor kit on Dec 30 and 31 to see if i was ovulating....it was a big negative. Checked again on or around Jan 8 and it said I was ovulating. It continued to say that on the 9th and 10th. On the 16th I took a home pregnancy test and it popped positive IMMEDIATELY. No faint lines...just two bright pink lines! Okay, the egg takes 7-9 days to travel to the uterous once it is fertilized, so if i truly ovulated on the 8th, how could it pop positive on the 16th already? I have taken additional tests, and they are positive. Just wanted to pick your brains and see what you all think. Would a preggo test pop positive that quick or do you think the ovulation predictor kit was wrong. I don't see my OBGYN until Feb 26, so I'm curious! Thanks!

OBGYN docs use little plastic gestational wheels to determine your estimated delivery date. These wheels are based on "Naegle's Rule", which anyone can use to calculate their own due date:
Example
The first day of your last menstrual period = 10/15/06
Subtract 3 months = 7/15/06
Add a week = 7/22/06
Add a year = 7/22/07 = estimated due date
This is an estimation, however, and many things can change the actual due date. But this does allow for everyone to prepare for delivery +/- 2weeks around the estimated date (knock on wood).

Well I can only speak from experience. Because I am very irregular even on clomid I didn't ovulate until my 19th day (knew that by charting my Basal body temperature. I got a positive pregnancy test 12 days later. I wouldn't pay much attention to ovulation kits unless you are regular and it seems you are not. If you aren't regular usually there is a hormonal imbalance which can cause false results on an OPK (negative or positive). Because I have the hormonal imbalance when I took OPKs (ovulation predictor kits) it would show positives for 6-8 days straight. Finally after researching and asking people I found they aren't accurate for people with irregular periods. It even will say that on the OPK instructions. When you go to the doctor they will always use the last menstrual period. But when they do ultrasounds they will go by measurements of the baby to determine how far along you may be. If you aren't sure of your last menstrual period they would do an ultrasound anyway just to see how far the baby is. If you were like really really irregular I would pretend not to know the due date so they would do an ultrasound for measurements but since you aren't really that irregular (past 40 days) you could just tell them the date of your lmp and then wait for the ultrasound. I knew my lmp and my ovulation date but they went by the lmp which is still only off by 4 days.

I have heard from a lot of women having a hard time conceiving even while using ovulation kits. What this tells me is that it isn't very reliable.
That said, doctors go by the first day of your last period in order to determine your due date. This assumes that your cycle is 28 days (even it may not really be). On your first ultrasound, the ultrasound will give a due date based on the size of your baby. This date is a lot more accurate than by going by your last period.
Your due date is 40 weeks from the date of your last period. This would be the date your OB will give you too. If you don't have a 28 day cycle, the ultrasound will give you a date that may be a few days off (but nothing way off).
Congrats!

I think that you probably ovulated earlier than the 30th and when you took the ovulation test again on the 8th it could have picked up pregnancy hormones and confused them (not 100% on that but some people have used the ovulation tests as hpt's). If you have a 28 day cycle than you conceived on or around December 30th and your estimated due date is 9/22/07.
Hope this helps you!

Ovulation test aren't always accurate, you may have been pregnant on the 8th and that's what you're test picked up so by the 16th you're very well pregnant enough for a HPT to show.
Or you did get pregnant when it said you were ovulating and there was enough of the hormone to make a positive. You never know.
Be sure to tell your OB, and you'll probably get a better idea through your first ultrasound.

This is going by your last period below:
First day of last menstrual period: December 16, 2006
Estimated date of conception: Saturday, December 30, 2006
End of 1st trimester (12 weeks): Saturday, March 10, 2007
End of 2nd trimester (27 weeks): Saturday, June 23, 2007
Estimated Due Date: September 22, 2007
(you proably got a negative on ovulating that day because you were already pregnant and a home test will show if you are pregnant 19 days after the day you think you became pregnant and you can read that at http://www.peeonastick.com)
Good luck and Congrats

If you're unsure, then wait another week and take a pregnancy test again. If you are pregnant, you would calculate your due date by taking the day of your last period (Dec 16) plus 7 days = Dec 23 minus 3 months = September 23.
Good Luck!

even as became the first day of your very last era? Take that day and subtracy 3 months. So say your era became July a million. Minus 3 months must be April a million then you genuinely upload seven days that ought to grant you with april 8 as a due date. i wish this facilitates yet that is how a doctor receives your due date.

Perhaps the tests were wrong? It's usually about 2 weeks after your period that you ovulate - in fact they calculate your due date from your last menstrual period.
check out www.pregnancy.org - I popped in your numbers & this is what it said:
Conception date: December 30, 2006
Due date: September 23, 2007
