When I hit a button on my iPod nano, the screen shows a file with a ! by it. In disc mode, my computer recognizes it in Disc Manager (but a ! is by the word "iPod"). My Nano won't show up in iTunes, but my Video does. I've tried clearing temp files etc, and it doesn't work. My nano isn't under warrenty, so is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks.

You can definately look on http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/ for the answer to this. It gives you error pictures that you can click and learn more about your problem.

I had to look up a few things on that with my iPod shuffle after it wouldn't be recognized with their new software. (I now have a nano) I found the answer and so will you. I remember looking through and seeing questions about the same problem.

Sorry, I'm going to let you do the research.

reset it by holding the menu and center buttons until the apple shows up. then while the apple is showing hold the center and reverse in until the diagnostic boot white screen shows. press menu and then go to IO. scroll down to comms and then usbtest while the ipod is plugged in. if it passes, reset again. while the apple is showing, press play and center to enter disk mode. plug the ipod in. if itunes recognizes it, reset and try to plug it in running regular mode (the one with music). if it doesnt show up in ituns any times except for the one in diag boot, send to apple or your warranty provider.

ummm try holding play and center button to reset.
if that doesnt work, hold play and center button to reset and right after apple logo shows up holdmenu and center button to put it into disk mode, then try to plug it in. i tunes should recognise it, then reset it to factory default and reload all your songs.
Or take it into apple, at least wher i live they fixed, but not replaced mine when i wasnt under warranty.
