Southern Fires IS good, but you stated it is your One Year anniversary.
You should have nothing but the best, so by far it has to be Magnolia's. It was rated #1 (the BEST) soul food in Detroit by Metro Times. It is owned by Frank Taylor, co-owner of Sweet Georgia Brown's. I think you and you spouse will love this place!!!! The atmosphere will be much more conducive for an anniversary than Southern Fire. Southern Fires is great, it's a three or four star soul food restaurant second from Belle Isle, minutes from Downtown, and just a short walk from the water.

Southern Fires is great food, but the service is absolutely terrible. It is also not very romantic for an anniversary, it is huge and is more like a cheap steakhouse inside, it was built in an old warehouse.
