When you fill up, start your travel odometer at zero. Go until the gas needle reads empty and then push it a little bit farther. When you fill up again, divide the number of miles by how many gallons you put in. That will give you your mileage.

actually you do not need to wait even that long -top off ,write down mileage go 50 miles top off again and divide miles traveled by gallons put in -too easy
