I don't think it's unsafe, but from what my wife says, it's very difficult and uncomfortable. It IS unsafe to pick up heavy objects. Bad for your already strained back.

Maybe because you will squish the baby when you bend over? You're lucky at least you can bend over when i was 37 weeks my husband had to tie my shoes and everything for me, because i couldn't do it. If you need to pick something up try sqatting instead.

They're crazy! The only way i can see bending over being unsafe, is if you're doing it to pick something heavy up... Otherwise bending over is fine..

when i was that far along, i bend over once to unleash the dog that we had at that time and lost my balance. If my boyfriend hadnt caught me, i would've fallen straight on my stomach!
So i guess it's because you have a lot of weight in your front and you really could hurt yourself bending down to pick something up!

You can bend over!?!...lol
I've developed this weird squat bend at the knees move to pick up stuff and I haven't worn lace up shoes in 2 months. 36 weeks tomorrow.
Just remember to come up slowly so you don't get dizzy and faint.

The bigger you get, the more sense of balance you lose. They're looking out for you. Of course you can bend over (or sideways, as the case may be) just do it slowly and carefully so that you don't get dizzy & fall over.

I don't know about it being 'unsafe', I just know that it's bloody awkward with a massive bump to do just about ANYTHING!
I just couldn't wait for the baby to come 'cos I was sick of wearing crappy slip on shoes!

Usually the problem is you can't bend over b/c your belly is to big. I have never heard it's dangerous.

I think its because by doing that you might get out balanced. So if you want to pick up something ask your husband or anyone near you to to that for you.
