My job offers no type of benefits, all my money goes straight to bills, but my eye sight is getting worse and worse everyday. I'm seeing spots and everything. is there anyway to get my eyes checked out and get some glasses without spending hundreds of dollars?

Medicare as some people have answered may not be the right answer in your case. To have Medicare you must be in your 60's (usually) and this only pays for your exam if you have a medical condition of the eyes (most people do to some degree and an optometrist will agree with me) In terms of glasses, medicare ONLY pays for them after cataract surgery...no other time.
Here are some options worth lookings into:
1. If you are a veteran the VA system may help you get free glasses if you have service connection over 10%.
2. Look into your local lions club...they often provide eye exams and glasses to the truely needy in their community but you'll most likely have to go through an interview process and income check...it is for the TRUELY needy!
3.Walmart, etc do have relatively inexpensive exam and frame rates. Wouldn't be my first choice for a quality eye exam but if you're tight on cash it would work.
Hope this help...whatever you do you need to see an optometrist quickly if you are truely seeing spots in your vision. They can be representitive of vascular conditions sometime and this would be a serious threat to your sight down the road. Best to get this checked ASAP.

I agree, check with local Lions club. The US Post Office has a donation box for any used eye glasses. If you can obtain a prescription from an eye doctor. Maybe they can get you close enough to be able to see. It's against the law if you have glasses on your driver license and are even stopped, Besides being a safety issue for everyone else on the road.

The spots, could be what they call floaters if they are getting worse, need attention by eye doctor. Just a opinion, not a doctor.

Medicare and Medicaid are useless. You have to apply to get them, and it is not a guarantee you will get them, and every state is different when it comes to Medicaid.

There are places that can hook you up with free exams and glasses. I don't have the names for you, I'm sorry, but try a search on the internet for "free glasses" or "free eyecare" in your area. Try sites like citysearch.com, your state's site (.gov), or even call your old eye doctor or a local one if you've never had one, and ask them if they know of anywhere you can go.

If you are seeing spots, you should definitely get that checked. It could be eye strain, but it could be something more serious. Mention it when you do get an appointment.

Good luck.

Where there is a will theres a way! Research your hometown or a close by town. See if any eye doctors are offering any specials. Look for coupons, here in Oklahoma we have an eye doctor who does 100 deal. thats an eye exam and two pair glasses or contacts or one of each. So im sure if you look around and call or do a bit of research youll be ok!

Go to a place like Four Eyes. The exam is about $60 and you can find some inexpensive glasses that aren't dorky looking. Maybe $75 or so. Check them out, they usually offer specials.

Breaking a mirror may bring bad luck for 7 years. To "undo" this, take the shards of glass and bury them underneath the moonlight. In ancient times, the mirror was said to be a window to the viewer's soul. If that mirror were to break, it would take time (or 7 years) for that 'cracked' soul to heal as 'time heals all wounds'.

I've heard that the Lion's Club helps people by giving them used donated eye glasses. But i don't know if they are in your area, you'd have to look it up.
