white people think everybody who aint white except for asians are slow.
that might not be necessarily true but thats what bob thinks, well first of all Hawaiian is not the largest ethnicity in Hawai'i, its ironic but true japanese is. white man killed all the hawaiians way back with their stds and such.
if your questions is pointed toward the hawaiian race, people might think that cause they have no idea about hawaii and who knows the lies that they are feeding little white children in school today, probobly saying that hawaiians wanted to be part of the us and were dirty savages.
if its towards the people in general, well its mostly because the doe and no child left behind has crucified public schools, year after year they keep rising the bar making harder every year to pass and make no effort to do anything, plus the fact that we cant get good teachers or supplies because the government rather make a transit system that only one side of the island can use instead of hire teachers and buy enough books for everybody at school. all that together produces high drop out rates and low test scores.

I don't think that Hawaiian people are slow in the context that is suggested in your question. They are simply more laid back and possess a more laissez-faire and non-judgmental attitude than most other people offer in today's frenzied world.
The Hawaiian people have a culture that is rich in historic and traditional knowledge and as such, they are often more introspective than many of us may wish to be.
Being introspective does not mean that anyone is slow to learn, it only means that they carefully analyze all information and refrain from offering judgment that would misrepresent the societal tradition of "Aloha" in which peace, love, tolerance and understanding are available to all.

People who perceive "Hawai'i people" as being "slow" do not take the time to understand the cultures, peoples, and rich history of Hawai'i. Life in Hawai'i does NOT compare to life in the Continental United States. Hawai'i is an extremely MULTICULTURAL and TOLERANT place. However, the social fabric of Hawai'i is currently under seige by the influx of greedy investors, developers, and others who don't take the time to pay attention and RESPECT the people, traditions, languages, history, and, most importantly, the 'aina.
In my opinion, Kama'aina (Hawai'i people) are more thoughtful and polite than folks who are not born/raised/long-term residents and/or connected to Hawai'i (i.e., non-kama'aina). Because we live on an island, we must be cognizant of our communities and our surroundings; and consider the consequence of our actions. In such a small place, the ramifications weigh far more heavily than on a large landmass, such as the continental United States.
In terms of our cultural diversity, Wikipedia sums it up rather succinctly: "Once an isolated archipelago inhabited only by native Hawaiians, Hawai'i is now extremely cosmopolitan. People of many different ethnic groups have immigrated to Hawai'i. As a consequence, Hawai‘i residents often speak a pidgin that contains words from many languages, eat a "local" cuisine that contains dishes from many countries, and observe a variety of different customs. These customs constitute a local form of etiquette that can DIFFER in many ways from that observed on U.S. mainland. As the perception of behaviors and actions vary, intercultural competence is ESSENTIAL."

What "people" are these you are referring to, I've never heard that. Now it's true they may have and "Island Time" not in a big rush mentality, but that has no bearing on them being as smart as any others.
