Find a firefly's what? You are using the term in a possesive form rather than in a multiple form. you mean "fireflies..."

Anyhow, now that I'm finished with my English lesson.....

I live in the midwest (Kansas to be exact) and there are a multitude of firelfies in the summertime here! I remember catching them as a kid and putting them in my grandma's old canning jars and poking holes in the top so that they could "breathe." I can't wait until this summer. My daughter had such a blast catching them and letting them go last year.

I would think that fireflies would flourish in warmer climates that have a reasonable amount of humidity. From my childhood, there were always a gang-load of them on a hot, sticky, summer night.

I live in New England, and typically the fireflies are out around the Fourth of July. Further south, they're out earlier. The best areas to find them are empty fields, in the evening after sunset.

The only times I've ever seen fireflies were on summer nights near a creek, river or springs.
