Here's my story... I owe some money to a collection agency who is working for Neteller. Since Neteller no longer accepts US customers do I still have to pay this debt? Is it going to be written off? Does anyone have any idea what is going to happen?

You no longer owe money to Neteller. You owe money to this collection agency, as the agency "bought" the debt from Neteller.

So, yes (even if you were paying Neteller directly) you would still owe them.

You can often negociate a settlement with a collection agency. Your credit is already affected, as anytime a collection agency is involved, it is going to be reflected on your credit report and doesn't look good. However, the collection agency will often take less than the full amount if they don't think they will ever get the full amount or it is going to take them a long time to receive the full amount.

Guess what? The collection agency probably bought the debt for pennies on the dollar. Now they'll want 100% payment.

Worst case is that they can take you to court or try to ruin your credit.

Ouch!

the collection agency owns the debt debt now. how they work is they buy it on the cheap, they get you to pay the full amount, and that's how they make their money. so yes, you have to pay.

Yes.

Debts are never written off.

Debts are sold three or four times before they get to the End of the Line where they break your legs if you don't pay.
